Dwarf Painting - Base Coat

This is the first shots of my dwarf blood bowl team paint job. It looks rough and ready as it is only at base coat stage so what you see here is "undercoat". The next stage will be some chestnut inking of the beard and flesh areas and then purple and yellow inking for the shoulder pads and tunic and gauntlets.

I am unsure of how to get the bone horns to look good... I have base coated in Bleached Bone and am considering a chestnut wash followed up by highlights of Bleached Bone and then white... Is that how bones/horns are done?? Posted by Picasa

Make the beards white or grey Clay. Purple and yellow do work well together, but you need something in there to break them up a bit, and the red coloured (I believe this is actually brown?) beard doesn't achieve this at all. I think if you went for a neutral grey or white beard it would look tops.

Ak! Just noticed the orange elbow pads as well! Don't mix orange and purple Clay - tis a disaster!

It is brown... i was thinking of having different coloured beards and the first one was brown... you may have a point though...

And the "orange shoulder pads" are Dwarf Flesh base coloured elbows...
