The Golden Era of Civil Libertarianism.

Can someone tell me why do the police require special legislation to enforce the law and prevent mob violence?  Since when do they require the government to step in and extend the boundaries of what they can and cant do?

I always thought that should the situation present itself, the police could do anything they wanted to ensure that offenders were caught and arrested.  If you’re drink driving, they’ll pull you over.  If you’re throwing punches in a pub, you’ll get thrown into a paddy wagon.  If you’re part of an angry mob, you’ll cop the batons and mounted police.  If you pull out a gun, you’ll get shot.

So what is it that they are now asking for??

Seems as though everyone is worried about the treatment of the “criminals” and not too much worried about putting a stop to anti-social behaviour.

And I blame Civil Libertarians!

Its Civil Libertarians that cause things like this to happen!

Reading through this article:

It seem to me that 19 is a ridiculously low number of arrests to be made given all that violence.

I know from talking to a mate of mine thats a cop, they generally have to make more charges than they otherwise in order to give them room to manoeuver legally speaking.

It seems much harder to get arrested these days than to sue someone frivolously and win.

The Novel Heinleins Starship Troopers very early on ( which was writen in like the early 1950's or even late 40's)has a part where the teacher who is a veteran talks about the late 20th century and the anarchy that comes about becuase of irresponsible social theorists, drug wars and streerts you cant walk safely etc, very prophetic.

I liked the Movie though i do admit, yes it was corny and jingoistic but you got to love the directors love of massed assault rifles chattering away, very cool ( see also his other flicks, esp Robocop, all have similar things, like a John Woo movie has guys firing two pistols leaping sideways, its one of there things )

Interestingly they beleive that in America gang violence is related to childcare of all things, these kids start off all in the same creche then pre school, primary and high school and all they really know is each other and there friends and loyalty to their group, interesting idea. ( How come i always do i's and e's round the wrong way when i type, sheesh )

Doesnt matter which side the mobs were on during those riots, they were all just mobs and should have been batoned and horse charged and watercannoned the lot of em. Screw arresting em, crack their heads and send em home to momma and send a message we dont tolerate this rioting and this tit for tat revenge attack shite.

What the hell is happening to Sydney lads that this seems to go on up there? Thk the lord we aint seen muh of its like down here in melb yet......yet.
