Games Workshop Failing...

Well!  Games Workshop, the people who stuffed up thousands of gamers when they released games and stop supporting them (Blood Bowl, Necromunda et al) to milk the cash cow that is (was) Warhammer seems to have hit hard times according to this article.

BoardGameGeek has this thread running on the subject and there aren't many tears for GW... and I am not crying either!

Put it simply, Warhammer is overpriced rubbish and the better games with better rule sets and better cost to the consumer have died as an officially supported game and we now live on eBay and second hand copies and rule updates published by enthusiasts....

/rant off :)

I agree; the hobby that was once Citadel Gaming has turned into a fascist conglomorate hellbent on sucking the life out of Warhammer and 40k.

Why do they do it? They must realise that the majority of people who get involved with wargaming in the first place are kids, and as such are not wealthy. £40 for a boxed set of 5 knights, I ask you. It's a joke, and Games Workshop will not be laughing when they go bankrupt after their formerly loyal fans desert them in favour of companies that aren't trying to replace enjoymeny with profit.

Good point made there by anoymous, it's all about milking kids with disposable income. I'm into historical wargaming these days but still remember warhammer was what drew me into wargaming. It's all gone downhill for GW now, but I'm not mourning for them. On a related note I was in a model shop in Trongate and the guy at the counter was one of the same guys who worked at the local GW years ago, but now with a beard and pony tail. Could be one of the ones who're being downsized.
