Liberal Stooges Support Violence

Take a look at this article (credit to Enoch for passing me it).

Brucie Baird justifying the riots at Cronulla because of Bali.  Liberal politician linking local racism to global war on terror and the Muslims in general.

When will people realise that the Liberal Party actually condones this sort of thing?  Where was Howard today?  Where was Debnam?  Instead we had Morris Iemma on Sunrise this morning taking flack because the NSW Police Force hadn’t done enough to prevent this occurring by banning Lebanese from the beach!!  WTF!!  You can’t have racial no go areas!  That is abhorrent.  Iemma shouldn’t be the one taking flack for this, the people of “The Shire” deserve the shit sandwich that’s coming to them.  Do they think that they have “cured their ills” by their stupid behaviour?

Well done Hobbits.  Just proving what the gene pool is capable of.

Geez mate, I reckon you're laying it on a bit thick here - he didn't attempt to justify it at all - he was asks if he though that stuff was a contributing factor in why it happened, and he said "I think so" and then gave some background information that gave reasons why he thought that was the case. I'm actually surprised to see such balanced use of his soundbytes from the Terrorgraph.

Try this article for a bit of a different perspective - this one meshes with my viewpoint a bit more: http://www.smh.com.au/news/paul-sheehan/nasty-reality-surfs-in-as-ugly-tribes-collide/2005/12/11/1134235944844.html

Unfortunately, for most people, the only Lebanese they see are these idiots, and thus, what should really be a gang violence issue becomes considered a racial issue and muddies the waters so nothing gets done.

Actually Clay, to be fair, you should understand it wasn't the Aussie louts on the weekend who were 'claiming' the beach in the first place.

With the way the state of the country is in at the moment, to be honest, this has been coming for some time.

We have a perpetual politically correct gag on any kind of discussion or affirmative action on anything related to race or religious class in Australia and as such, all it's done is create pressure cooker situations like this.

Combined with the dog-eat-dog policies the Government runs the nation with, I am actually surprised you didn't see this kinda thing coming.

Civil unrest in Australia has been building for years... it's only now we're starting to see the results.

Guys,

There is no excuse for Sunday's behaviour... you cannot justify it simply because it has been "brewing".

Attacking 16yr old girls (who live at Janalli) because they're of Lebanese descent is abhorrent.

Not saying there is no blame on the other side, but you cannot seriously think Sunday was OK.

None of us have said its OK, just that there are other more important issues underlying the whole thing than is being portrayed, and that this portrayal will end up preventing anything from being done.

By portraying the incident as being racically motivated, it simplifies what really happen and confuses the issue of the time of gang violence really at the heart of the problem, brings out all the whacko proper racists and gives them a platform (which is what leads to Sunday in the first place - guaranteed the actual violence was committed by these sorts). It also then adds complexity to the discussing of the issue, since it brings out the PC brigade as DM mentioned.

What happened IMO:

Gang A decided to bash someone

Gang B identifies with that someone, and decides to bash some people related in some way to Gang A

Media decides that because Gang A is identifiable by ethnic background, it must be a racial issue, despite the fact that Gang B has done such things to many other sort of gangs in the past, and it could more accurately be described as a gang problem.

This gives many people a platform, and more credability than they deserve, to stir up the masses, most of whom are probably ignorant and on their own quite fine. Sunday ensues, and now the things at the beginning that if they were stopped would see no problem at all will eventually be forgotten as discussion becomes gagged by the PC police, and we'll probably end up with some jokes about Surfies and Lebs walking into a bar or some such.

I personally thought this point of view on SMH was interesting :

Geez some people in the country are starting to annoy me; the bogan convention at Cronulla on Sunday, the thugs 'of Middle Eastern Appearance' that bashed the lifesavers, and the snivelling wankers who say they 'condemn' the whole thing without asking any questions as to why it is all happening.

I believe that the snivelling wankers wailing on about us being a backwards and intolerant nation are dead wrong. Australia has come a long way in a relatively short space of time and most Australians are surprisingly tolerant people, given that the nations racial mix has changed so rapidly.

It has been a well established fact that groups of young men of 'Middle Eastern Appearance' have been running amok around various parts of Sydney for years now. They sneer at the law and quite often make clear they believe 'Western' women are gutter trash who shame themselves by their very presence in public. There are other young groups of men who have similar behaviour but they do not stick out like dogs balls because they are not of 'Middle Eastern Appearance'. People eventually get tired of this behaviour, and they get angry. Most people don't do anything about so it falls to the extreme elements of society to finally crack, ie: the bogans.

So, why do these young men behave so badly? Are they bored, undiciplined, excluded or poorly educated? Probably. Are Australian political administrations going to try and find out? Probably not. What they will do is talk about how many extra police are being put on duty and tackle the problem with force. Doesn't fix the problem fellas, see Iraq for details.

There has to be a reason these young men would prefer to go to the beach and threaten people as opposed to relaxing and minding their own business. If Australia ever works out what it is and furthermore is actually able to fix the problem we'll be a long way ahead of the rest of the world. In the meantime though people need to stop snivelling about what a twisted little backwater Australia is. We are not. Every country has these problems!
