Golden Boot!

Well, as posted in my last post, Kate made her debut for her school soccer (or football as they call it here) on the weekend and to my great surprise, Kate's team won the 4 team tournament with 2 wins and a draw, didn't concede a goal and she herself scored 3 out of the 5 goals her team scored and scored the most goals in any of the teams!

We were very surprised but also very happy!

Of course, as a proud dad, I snapped the following pics of her in action:

Skyping The Kids

One of the things I had set up before leaving was a webcam for the main PC at home so I could "skype" the girls when I came to the UAE.

Well, Skype worked an absolute treat before I left... skyping the main PC from the lounge room with my laptop worked great and we installed webcams at both mine and Niki's parents places as well. Skyping them worked fine as well.

But over here, sharing one internet connection with a multitude of hotel rooms means that bandwidth is an issue. Sometimes its just slow to bring up normal web pages let alone using Skype. But we persist and thru the many drop outs and freezes, it really has been helpful in helping both me and the girls at home stay in touch. I cannot imagine being here without it... there would be alot more tears at both ends!

The picture quality is fair to good depending on the connection but the best bit is being able to take happy snaps of Niki and the girls whilst chatting to me like these ones below :

Who said I was a Nerd?

I blog, dabble in computers, am addicted to Facebook and I game both on PC and on the table top. Some people have over the years called me a Nerd.

How can I be a Nerd when I have two such wonderful and beautiful daughters?!

Kate at the District Athletics Carnival

Today, I got to see Kate run the 100m at the District Athletics Carnival! She made us all very proud as she came third in her race!

She's in the blue, third runner from the camera...

She made the district last year and came last, this year, she was just pipped into 3rd.

Well done!!

Whoop Whoop

Well, after all the drama's at home, Kate has been home since Wednesday afternoon with a barking cough.

When I say barking, I mean she sounds like a small dog and she is going at it virtually constantly. When taken to the Chemist he freaked out and sent her to the neighbouring GP immediately and when she got there she was taken straight in and the suspected diagnosis was Whooping Cough.

This disease is bad and we were able to get some pathology done just before they closed at 6pm that night and this morning we got the results.

No Whooping Cough, but the GP isnt 100% convinced. He's had her on a Cortizone treatment and has now given her an antibiotic and some medically scripted cough suppressant (which is good because over the counter stuff in my opinion is rubbish).

She's still at home, flitting between the PlayStation, Nintendo and the TV but barking like a dog. Never seen or heard anything quite like it and we'll see how the medicines go over the weekend and the GP wants to see her on Monday again.

Weird!

Holidays

Its school holidays and I am basically going on holidays with the kids. I have decided that I have a few job applications in, but I am not going to actively "hit the pavement" so to speak until the kids go back...

So, I am now twiddling my thumbs so to speak...

We won't be going away - trips to Malaysia and Fiji for the girls is plenty - and I think some time at home will do everybody the world of good. The weekend was hectic with the half year dance concerts (3 shows and lots of rehearsals over the weekend) and Kate had to perform with a broken wrist.

Speaking of her wrist, she's at the doctors currently getting a new x-ray and being assessed by the GP. Last message from Niki was that she may not have a break after all, but she is in alot of pain. Perhaps a sprain? Who knows...

Kate Breaks Her Wrist...

Days before school holidays, dancing half year concerts, acrobat debut and netball clinic, Kate fell over during the State of Origin last night and landed and broke her wrist...

I was at the football (don't ask re result) and Niki called me just as the opening set of 6 tackles was being played out to say she was taking Kate to the hospital... that was about 8:30pm.

We got home at nearly 3am!

Thank you for the ER response times Morris!!
